Why Chi Alpha?

As a new-comer to DC, I began my first semeseter @ American University with high hopes of experiencing the true "college life" I expected to find in meeting new people, going out and partying, being independent and being able to do what I wanted to do.
Through my excitement of exploring AU, I found myself searching to find a sense of community. I guess in short I didn't feel whole. I was seeking something and I couldn't quite pinpoint what it was. Luckily, one evening in early February, I decided to attend a Super Bowl party on campus. I thought I'd go to see some good advertisements and of course get free food.
While there, I got to talking with some people who seemed pretty cool. As we kept chatting, they encouraged me to hang out with them again at an upcoming weekend retreat in West Virgina.
The retreat turned into being a sort of wake up call for me. It helped me to realize that the "it" I was missing in my life was a deeper and more open relationship with Jesus Christ.
I came to college to experience the "good ol' college life," but what I found in Chi Alpha is so much better. I have met many amazing people. I have enjoyed partying with them and being able to remember it the next day. The support I found from those involved with Chi Alpha and in the faith of knowing Jesus is working in my life has given me confidence to do what I feel is important without wondering how others will look at me.
All in all, Chi Alpha has given me the college lifestyle that I was truly looking for!
