We're a Christian Campus Ministry at American University and we've been here awhile (we really love students). You can sum us up with three words; Jesus, Purpose & Community. Although terms and labels are often imperfect, you could use the following to describe us: interdenominational, protestant, evangelical and orthodox. No matter where you are on your journey of faith, you're invited to join us.
In the Bible, the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:20,
We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
Our movement of campus ministries finds its identity in this passage. Each of us who takes on the identity of “Christian” becomes Christ’s ambassador — or christou apostoloi in Greek, which we shorten to the first letters “Chi” and “Alpha” or XA.
→ Fast Facts about us:
We are all about discipleship and for us, much of that takes place in Small Groups and one-on-one mentoring.
We've been on campus at American University (in Kay Spiritual Life Center) since 1999.
Chi Alpha Campus Ministries is a national movement, representing 300 campuses and 20,000 students.
We believe in equipping, training and discipling students to follow Jesus closely and then, lead others to do the same.
95% of our Small Groups are led by students, which we love!
