(You can find information about Summer Chi Alpha and our Bible Reading Plan at www.auchialpha.org/summer2016)
Welcome to the beginning of July!
As many of you know, the staff have been busy with travels and conferences, but we DO still have Chi Alpha this summer! If you are in or around DC, you should check out the events that we have, as well as take part in our weekly small groups! This summer we are having separate guys and girls small groups: the guys are studying through the book of Hebrews, and the girls are studying 1& 2 Peter! Come check it out! Also, if you are in the district, we have Summer events going on, so make sure to check that out as well (the next one is this Saturday, July 2nd: The Folklife Festival!).
No matter where you are this summer, you don’t have to be at TNW or at a Chi Alpha event to grow in your devotion to God! The best way to grow your walk with God is through reading and studying his Word. This summer, we as a whole are reading through the latter half of the Old Testament, from Isaiah-Malachi. Even the staff are joining in! (at the time of writing this, we are on day 31, but you can jump in anytime!)
As I spend time reading through our plan this summer, here are some key insights that I have found:
- God takes obedience to his word and commands seriously; if we do not follow, there are consequences.
- In Isaiah, God’s judgment is never the final word. There is a message of hope and future restoration!
- Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of this message of hope.
- We live, knowing the culmination of this hope in King Jesus, and are to share that message with others, and invite them into the covenant family and God’s kingdom.
Lastly, here’s a couple videos you can watch to familiarize yourself with the context of what we have been reading!
